Obituary for Stephen P. Gober (1930-2022)

Stephen P. Gober, age 91, of Plymouth Meeting, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2022 at Norriton Square Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Bridgeport, Stephen was the son of the late Stephen J. Gober and the late Jennie (nee Puchalski) Gober, the devoted husband of the late Josephine V. (nee Mich) Gober, the loving father of Stephen A. Gober, Suzanne Rosin,and the beloved brother of the late John Gober, Josephine Duckworth and the late Mary Lester.

Mr. Gober, an avid baseball fan, especially the Phillies, known to many as “Coach”, was a graduate of Our Mother of Sorrows Parochial School, Bridgeport High School and Temple University, College of Engineering. He worked as an electroplating engineer for I.C.I. Metal Plating for many years and then later in life became a service clerk for Acme Markets for over 15 years of his career. He was always a very busy man, coaching or managing many local Industrial and Recreational softball, baseball and basketball teams including Little League for 40 years, Senior Coordinator of Plymouth Junior ABA for 30 years, Senior Coordinator of Plymouth Little League, Senior Division for 40 years, Coached Wilt Chamberlain in Bridgeport Summer League, Manager of Bridgeport High School Class B Eastern State Basketball Championship Team in 1948, Promotion Manager LAM-Moose Semi-Professional Football Team. He was former Secretary/Treasurer Valley Forge Branch of American Electroplater Society, he was long time and devout member of Sacred Heart Church, where he was an usher, assisted with the collections and was a lifetime member of their Holy Name Society Sacred Heart and was also a lifetime member of Goodwill Fire Company.
