❤️ Why this recipe works

  • It's a healthy choice! Warm summer days call for cold refreshing drinks, and this Ginger Peach Iced Tea delivers! Not only is it invigorating, but it's also a healthy drink because it is made with green tea.
  • Made with real peaches! This peach tea is icy cold and delicately sweetened with fresh or frozen ripe peaches (and a little natural sweetener like honey). Along with this Pineapple Ginger Kombucha co*cktail (or Mocktail) and this Honeydew Lime Mocktail with Mint, it's a favourite summertime drink.
  • All the benefits of green tea! Make the switch from using powdered mixes, store-bought iced tea in bottles, or sugary coffee shop iced tea lemonade and brew your own! Make it even healthier by using green tea as the base. Iced green tea is so good, so healthy, and so refreshing!
  • Sweetened naturally with honey. If you've had Starbucks Iced Peach Green Tea Lemonade, you'll know how refreshing iced peach tea can be. But with 27 grams of sugar per serving, why not try this homemade version instead? Use your own choice of sweetener and control the amount you add!

While I love to brew a pot of green tea in the morning, some days it's just too warm outside for a cup of hot tea. Flavourful Ginger Peach Iced Green Tea to the rescue!

You'll will need:

2 peaches: fresh or frozen peach slices. It's not necessary to peel the peaches unless you're using a variety with very fuzzy skins.

green tea: loose-leaf tea or tea bags. I like to use Jasmine green tea as it has a delicate aroma. It's loaded with polyphenols, which are powerful plant-based compounds. These may help you lose weight, control your blood sugar, and may even boost brain function! Want to know more? Read more about the benefits of jasmine green tea.

fresh ginger root: just a little, grated, to add a refreshing flavour, totally optional, of course.

honey: or maple syrup, or 0-calorie sweetener like Monkfruit

🥄 Homemade Ginger Peach Iced Green Tea - Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Brew 4 cups of green tea in a teapot or heatproof container using tea leaves (or green tea bags). Start with one teaspoon of tea leaves for every 8 ounces of water (4 teaspoons for this recipe) and add more to taste. Brewing times for green tea range from 1 to 5 minutes depending on how strong you like it. The longer you steep it, the stronger the flavour. Taste as it steeps. If you leave it too long it will develop bitterness. Let the tea cool completely.
  2. Purée the peach slices in a blender with finely grated ginger root and honey or other sweetener.
  3. Add the cooled green tea to the blender container and blend for a few seconds.
  4. Pour into a pitcher and chill in the fridge.
  5. When you're ready to serve, fill glasses with ice, add the peach ginger tea, and garnish with a slice of fresh peach or a few strawberries or raspberries, if you'd like.

❓FAQ's and Tips

Can I use frozen peaches in this recipe?

Yes, you can use either fresh or frozen peach slices.

If you have your own peach tree, you'll know that there are always a few peaches that are less than perfect when they've fallen or are slightly overripe or a little bruised. And if you buy your peaches at a farmer's market or supermarket, you may find the same thing.

This recipe for Peach Iced Tea is a great way to use those slightly spoiled fresh peaches. Frozen peaches work equally as well.

Is green tea healthy?

Health practitioners believe that green tea has many health benefits. They claim thatit can reduce the risk of cancer (especially breast, prostate and colorectal cancer), boost your metabolic rate and therefore aid in weight loss, and even reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease.

Even if these claims are not proven, I'm hedging my bets and having my daily cups of green tea!Homemade Ginger Peach Iced Tea (7)

Does green tea contain caffeine?

Green tea contains caffeine, but much less than coffee. While amounts vary between brands, one cup of green tea contains approximately 35 - 80 mg of caffeine, while a cup of coffee contains about 100-400 mg. It can act as a mild stimulant in some people.

Many people find it gives them a boost of energy and helps with concentration, but others may find that this stimulating effect varies.

Can I make this Peach Iced Tea ahead of time?

Yes. A pitcher of this iced tea will last for several days in the fridge. If the peach juice settles, simply give it a stir before pouring over ice.

🔁 How to vary this recipe

Add a little more honey if you like your tea sweeter, or if the peaches you used weren't overly sweet.

No peaches? Try this recipe with fresh or frozen mango or pineapple. Equally refreshing and naturally sweet!

Make a large pitcher and keep it chilled in the fridge. When you're ready to serve, pour it over ice in tall glasses. So refreshing, naturally sweetened and made with real peaches!

Yum! Perfect for a hot day. Plus, it's easy! I used frozen peaches and mixed it all in our Blendtec. It foamed, but then settled into the beauty sunshine orange color.

I saw this somewhere the other day (pinterest?) and was so wanting a glass to appear in my hand asap. Unfortunately that didn't magically happen. Darn. But I will be adding it to my drink rotation for this summer. Pinning AND bookmarking this. Can't wait to try. 🙂
