I am now entering the third month of my internship and I am grateful for the opportunity to meet tuberculosis (TB) patients and gain firsthand experience of their daily lives. This experience has allowed me to witness their realities and challenges enhancing my understanding. This opportunity will continue until the end of my internship and I am thankful to the foundation for providing me with the chance to explore and expand my knowledge regarding effective communication, meeting patient needs, providing necessary nutrition and understanding the challenges they face in the real world. i saw individuals facing diverse challenges. Each patients journey is unique and highlighting the varied hurdles they must overcome such as financial constraints, stigma and limited access to healthcare. These firsthand interactions shed light on the complex realities of TB care. I have also Observing the lack of proper hygiene practices and disregard for maintaining distance among TB patients it becomes evident that there is a need for awareness campaigns to educate them on infection control measures. Conducting awareness camps can play a Major role in empowering patients with knowledge and promoting healthier habits to prevent the spread of tuberculosis. #opportunity #experience #healthcare #communication #internship #nutrition #meetingtuberculosispatients #nationaltuberculosiscontrolprogramme

I am delighted to share that I have successfully completed another course which is the 'Health-care associated infection surveillance' course offered by the World Health Organization (WHO). Through this course, I gained a comprehensive understanding of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), which are ailments individuals can contract while undergoing medical care, particularly in hospital settings. The course emphasized the main role of surveillance in effectively tracking and managing HAIs. Surveillance entails the collection, analysis, and application of data to facilitate informed decision-making. It equips healthcare institutions with insights into infection rates, early outbreak detection, and the evaluation of preventative measures. This knowledge empowers healthcare professionals like doctors and nurses to proactively prevent infections and safeguard patient well-being. Moreover, surveillance data serves many purposes, including legal, insurance, comparative, and research applications. Building a strategic surveillance system demands many planning encompassing the rationale for monitoring, designating responsible parties, data collection strategies, and ensuring data accuracy. Additionally, it's imperative to ascertain whether similar data collection processes are already in place. These efforts ultimately enhances patient safety and augments the overall quality of healthcare services. I feel this course is very useful as it will be a new knowledge for me to apply into my field. #microbiology #internships #worldhealthorganization #Healthcare #infectionprevention

I'm thrilled to share the completion of my internship with MeriSKILL. The last task focused on diabetes analysis using datasets from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.Insights:- A total of 768 patients were included in the analysis.- Out of these, 268 individuals were diagnosed with diabetes, with 160 of them being adults (20–39).- I utilized an R script to create a correlation plot presenting the strong positive correlation between the outcome and glucose, which suggests that elevated gloucose levels are a significant risk factor for diabetes.- There is a significant correlation between the number of pregnancies and the likelihood of being diagnosed with diabetes as age increases.- The strong correlation between diabetes and BMI (body mass index) highlights the importance of maintaining a healthy BMI to reduce the risk of diabetes. A high BMI (body mass index) increases the likelihood of developing diabetes.I'm open to any advice or suggestions. #HealthCareAnalytics #DataAnalysis #PowerBI #R #DataVisualization

Dietetic internship aside...where do you start in clinical nutrition is a completely reasonable question.I'd like to use this opportunity to shamelessly promote myself a little and say you start with Clinical Bootcamp! 😁Waitlist is currently open 🎉 and if you're struggling with clinical work (or worried you will be), this is the program you need. It's the program I needed when I was in my internship. 👉🏽It's also the program that would have saved me over a year in trial and error once I got my RD.But if you want something sooner to get you started before class starts, I've got a free resources you can use.💥The Acute Care Starter Guide is a 30 page roadmap to clinical nutrition.Links to download and join the waitlist both are in my bio. Enjoy 🥰!#rd2be #nutritioncoach #clinicaldietitian #rd #dieteticintern #dieteticsstudent#nutritioncheatsheets #dietitiansofinstagram #brooklyndietitians #rdsofcolor #dietitiansofig #nutritionblogger #healthblogger #nutritionblog #dietitianblog #dietitianblogger #nutritioncounseling

Hi #connections! I am exciting to share my second project during my virtual internship at MeriSKILL, where I conducted a comprehensive analysis of diabetic patients.Purpose: The primary objective of this project was to develop a diagnostic model to predict whether a patient has diabetes based on specific diagnostic measurements.Key Insights:1. Dataset Overview: I analyzed data from 768 patients and discovered that 35% of them had diabetes.2. Positive Outcomes: Remarkably, I found that 500 patients in the dataset had successfully overcome diabetes, which is a testament to the power of medical intervention and lifestyle changes.3. Age Matters: The average age of the patients in the dataset was 32 years, highlighting that diabetes can affect individuals across various age groups.4. Blood Pressure Insights: I observed interesting trends in BIood Pressure:- Young individuals had an average BIood Pressure of 65.89.- Middle-aged individuals had an average Blood Pressure of 74.77.- Aged individuals had an average Blood Pressure of 76.18.5. Glucose Levels: Glucose levels also exhibited age-related differences:- Young individuals had an average glucose level of 115.80.- Middle-aged individuals had an average glucose level of 128.86.- Aged individuals had an average glucose level of 137.48.6. BMI by Age Group: Further, I found variations in BMI based on age:- Young individuals had an average BMI of 32.- Middle-aged individuals had an average BMI of 34.- Aged individuals had an average BMI of 29.Understanding these patterns can provide valuable insights into diabetes management and prevention strategies tailored to different age groups.I'm excited to continue my journey at MeriSKILL and contribute to projects that make a positive impact on healthcare.Project Link : https://lnkd.in/gm7cVp9N#DiabetesAnalysis #HealthcareData #DataAnalysis #Internship #MeriSKILL #HealthcareInsights

𝐒𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒As the weather changes and many of us get sick with the flu, I wanted to share some tips on how to stay healthy during the rainy season.I recently came down with the flu, and I learned the hard way how important it is to rest when you're sick. I was struggling to remember things quickly and maintain focus, and I made a few errors that I shouldn't have made.A friend of mine gave me some advice that really helped: "Just take a break and rest well." She said that drinking room-temperature water would also help to avoid dehydration.I know that everyone's experience with illness is different, but I think it's important to remember that rest is essential for recovery. If you're feeling sick, don't push yourself too hard. Give your body the time it needs to heal.𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘏𝘪𝘨𝘩 𝘊𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘏𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘩𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦: 𝘈 𝘉𝘶𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘯 𝘰𝘯 𝘔𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴On a serious note, The Oxfam International image shared is a powerful reminder of the dark side of private hospitals. These hospitals (not all of them, but most of them) often take advantage of people in difficult situations, charging outrageous prices for their services. The healthcare situation in Ethiopia is dire. Private hospitals have made a fortune charging high prices during COVID-19, while most still charge six digits for simple practices. 𝘚𝘢𝘥𝘭𝘺; Thousands of medical doctors are jobless, and the number is increasing every year. The doctor-to-patient ratio is still 1 to 17,000 people. I have heard that over 500 medical doctor applications were submitted for two internship positions that lasted for three months.Happy Rainy Season!
