On April 15, 2024, we continued negotiations on a new collective labor agreement for the funeral industry. We have reached a negotiating result. The members can vote on that negotiation result.

The negotiation result

De Unie is pleased that we reached a negotiating result on April 15 for a new collective labor agreement for the funeral industry. This provides clarity for employees about what will happen to the employment conditions when the majority of union members agree to the negotiation result.

The main points from the negotiation result

The most important points from the negotiation result are summarized:

  • The term of the new collective labor agreement is from March 1, 2024 to December 31, 2025.
  • The actual salary will be increased as follows:
    • 7% as of May 1, 2024. For outside scales this is 6%.
      An off-scale employee is an employee who has an annual income (salary + holiday allowance + any 13e month + any market allowance) of more than the maximum of salary scale 9. In concrete terms, more than € 70.839,36 gross for a full-time contract.
    • 3% as of January 1, 2025. For off-scales this is 2%.
    • 1% as of July 1, 2025, also for off-scale.
  • Do you have a position that falls into job levels I to III? You will then receive a one-off payment of 2024% of your gross annual salary in September 1,17.
  • The availability compensation will be increased and will follow the increases in the salary increase. So an increase of 1% as of May 2024, 7, 1% as of January 2025, 3 and 1% as of July 2025, 1.
  • The travel allowance will be increased to the fiscal maximum as of May 1, 2024. This will then be € 0,23 per kilometer. If the government sets a higher tax maximum during the term of the collective labor agreement, the travel allowance will follow that increase.
  • The homework allowance will be increased to the fiscal maximum as of May 1, 2024. This will then be €2,35 per day. If the government sets a higher tax maximum during the term of the collective labor agreement, the homework allowance will follow that increase.
  • The reimbursem*nt for business travel follows the increase in the travel allowance and will be grossly € 0,10 per kilometer higher than the commuting travel allowance.
  • The period for participating in the RVU scheme will be extended from 1 year to 2 years prior to the state pension date.
  • As of January 1, 2025, the statutory limitation period of 1,5 years applies to the statutory vacation days that you accrue from that moment on. The employer must make every effort to ensure that an employee can take his days of leave. The employee must make every effort to take the statutory vacation days on time. A transitional period of the limitation period applies to statutory leave hours that were accrued before 2025 and have not yet been taken. These leave hours must be taken in a period of 3 years from January 1, 2025. The limitation period for your extra-statutory leave hours will not change. It remains for 5 years.
  • The maximum number of availability shifts for part-timers will be reduced. For contracts up to 0,25 FTE, this will be 25% of the maximum currently stated in the collective labor agreement. For contracts between 0,25 FTE and 0,5 FTE, this will be 50% of the maximum currently stated in the collective labor agreement.
    Furthermore, an employer can conduct a trial for a different arrangement for on-call services. You can read what this arrangement looks like in Appendix I of the negotiation result. An employer must register for the trial. The trial can only go ahead if the unions agree.

The members have received an invitation to vote until Thursday May 2, 2024.

Shortly after May 2, we will inform members about the results of the vote.
