The flintlock pistol (old gun) is one of the best weapons to use against cannibals in The Forest. Although this gun is quite slow and nearly useless against a pack of cannibals, it deals tremendous damage and is definitely worth having.
But to assemble the gun, you’ll need to be thorough in your search and know the gun part locations in The Forest. This article will walk you through finding and assembling the flintlock pistol.
What Is the Flintlock Pistol / Old Gun
The flintlock pistol is the only firearm weapon in The Forest, excluding the Flare Gun which is used as a signaling device.
When it comes to reloading, the flintlock pistol is a slow weapon since it takes around 3 seconds to load. In an update to The Forest, the developers added the ability to aim down the sight for this weapon, making it more accurate.
To assemble this weapon, you will need to find eight gun parts spread throughout the multiple locations on the Peninsula of the game. First, you’ll need to blow up rocks with explosives in order to release the weapon parts. Our brief step-by-step guide will show you where all eight parts can be found in The Forest.
All Flintlock Gun Part Locations in The Forest
The Barrel
You can find the first part of a flintlock gun just south of the main Cannibal Village, located in the southeastern part of the map. If you just started playing The Forest, you can simply die, and you’ll see a cutscene of cannibals dragging you to this village.
You’ll find yourself tied to a rope in a cave below the village. Cut the rope and climb out of the cave. Loot the empty tents for some diamonds, which you’ll need to use to blow up rocks and reveal a gun part.
Then, head directly south of the main village and just follow the coast until you reach a mound overlooking the shoreline. Light up a stick of dynamite and throw it on a location shown below, which will reveal the first gun part – a barrel containing a flintlock gun and some old ammunition.
The Stock
Head to the southwestern part of the map to look for the second gun part and get to the location shown in the screenshot below. You’ll find the gun part cache right behind the sacred tree next to a cliff.
Ramrod
You’ll find the third part of the flintlock gun in the southern part of the peninsula, west of the main cannibal village. The gun cache is inside one of the huts, which is surrounded by dead bodies.
The Hammer
You’ll find the fourth part of the flintlock gun all the way west of the peninsula. Head to the beach, whose location is shown in the screenshot below, and you’ll find the stranded dead sharks there. Keep following the path and use the dead sharks as your guide until you reach the cache that will reveal the hammer of the flintlock gun.
The Trigger
Head to the small lake in the western part of the map, and you’ll find the flintlock gun cache at the highest cliff overlooking the lake, near the trees and with several rocks close to it.
The Spring
Finding the spring, a sixth gun part of the flintlock gun, can be quite challenging because you’ll need to swim across one of the most dangerous locations in The Forest. More precisely, you must cross the shark-infested water to reach the island where you’ll find the part cache.
First, go to the point revealed in the image below, and you’ll notice the shipping containers. Swim right across them to the first island, then proceed to the smaller island left of it. You’ll need to swim between huge rocks and eventually reach the weapon cache you’ll need to destroy.
The Flint
Before you proceed to the location of the next gun part, here’s a quick tip. Make sure to get an upgraded stick (stick + cloth) and light it to keep you warm. Where you’ll be going is snowy and cold, so this is a precautionary measure. Once you arrive, look for the gun cache—it will stand out from its snowy surroundings.
The Jaw
You’ll find the next flintlock gun part in the northwestern part of the map of The Forest. There, you’ll spot the beach huts below the cliff, so proceed carefully all the way down to the shoreline, and you’ll notice the gun cache next to a huge rock.
How To Assemble and Upgrade Flintlock Gun in The Forest
Once you’ve got all the gun parts and visited all the required locations in The Forest, simply open the crafting tool, click on every flintlock gun part required, and right-click to assemble it.
In case you wish to upgrade your flintlock gun with a flashlight, which is quite a useful tool in The Forest, simply combine the flashlight and duct tape with the newly assembled flintlock gun, and voila!
